This is an unbelievably sad news story. (Really, I mean it. It's really, really sad. Don't click on that link unless you want to be made REALLY, REALLY SAD.)
(Um, and I know that people die violently and tragically all the time and that those are huge losses. This is still a sad story.) |

Two days off: good. Living downtown for at least six weeks and therefore only having to take the GO train at 6 a.m. for half the term in the absolute worst case scenario: good. No five hour break between classes like I had in second year: good. Plenty of time between classes for Eyeopener stuff: good. More than likely only having two exams: good. Only having to start class at 2 p.m. on the first day, which happens to be the day after my birthday: good. Breaks right around lunch time on my two busier days: good. Class at 8 a.m. on Wednesday that will likely mean I get to get circ over with extremely early on: good. Senior reporting (JRN805) with John Miller: OMGWTFBBQ WHYYYYYYY? Okay. This is kind of strange, even for me. The voting is over. Lukiwski beat Ambrose in the final showdown. This is of no importance to anyone. But please join me in a stupefied exclamation of "JEAN LAPIERRE?!" |

It is 27 degrees. There is no breeze. My clothes are sticking to my skin. And my mother's response is to turn off the air conditioning. Not that it's that bad -- it's just odd coming from someone who gets mad when someone turns the air conditioning off in December because she's having hot flashes. Current Mood: |

The time has come for an old quote from Vera: "Only you, Kerry, would dream about the House of Commons and have it sound as normal as... normal things. That's awesome." |

I bought clothes today. This is usually a sign of the apocalypse, but it has been happening with increasing frequency lately.
:) I am also now the happy owner of a CBC access pass, so I don't have to go through the bizarre visitor protocol every time I'm supposed to work. Yay.Current Mood: |

Dear Carolina, Congratulations. It has become apparent, however, that you are truly untested in the ways of Stanley Cup hockey and have yet to learn that the oldest and proudest tradition of the awards presentation is the ceremonial heckling of Gary Bettman. Please remember this, should the occasion ever arise again. Kerry |

If the past Stanley Cup series has proven anything, it is that anything is possible. But tonight, two things are certain. One team will win, and Gary Bettman will be taunted and booed until thousands of throats are sore. Both of these things happen every year, yet I never tire of either. |

There were a bunch of other tests that produced more or less the same result. Oh, and the Canadian political test that assigned the taker one of three political parties and should therefore not be taken (seriously) by anyone. Current Mood: |

The highlight of today's work shift involved getting to watch part of the Liberal leadership debates while scanning for images -- mostly because it's something I would never normally watch, but also because I got to skip the boring people. The only worthwhile part was actually not the Kennedy-Dion battle, or the three-way Brison-Rae-Volpe battle (during which Brison and Volpe yelled at each other until the moderator told them to let Bob play, too), or Volpe's numerous attacks on Ignatieff, or everyone else's numerous attacks on Volpe. Oh no. It wasn't even when a woman in the audience yelled at everyone for not speaking enough French It was when Hedy Fry said something-or-other (I wasn't really paying attention, but she said "Trudeau and Pearson" a lot), the audience applauded, Maurice Bevilacqua glared at them sternly as he prepared to make his rebuttal, and they stopped applauding. PWNED. Tags: politics, work Current Mood: |

Okay, so I'm so obviously not moving downtown in September. Too many bills + not enough earnings = not moving out. It's best to save the money I actually get to keep in the event that I do end up shipped out of town to complete a degree requirement in the winter. This is not the way I planned to spend fourth year, but I planned to spend fourth year as an online journalism major AND LOOK HOW WELL THAT TURNED OUT. I can't wait to graduate. Of course, I have no idea what I'm going to do after I graduate. I know what I'd like to do, but no idea how to do it. Yawn. Current Mood: |
